Our StoryAfter 10 years in the corporate world, Lisa Garcia Jacobson founded Workplace Solutions in 1998 as a solution to her own HR issue – the need for balance and flexibility in managing her professional and family life. A true entrepreneur at heart, Lisa transitioned from a burgeoning corporate career at Verizon (GTE) to launching Workplace Solutions, a human resources consulting firm. In 2007, Lisa embarked upon an ambitious career turn. She commuted to Philadelphia monthly and earned a Masters Degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In this program, she studied under the tutelage of Martin P. Seligman, the founder of positive psychology, and the academic staff at the Center for Positive Psychology. Now, in addition to maintaining her HR certification, Lisa dedicates most of her practice to coaching and advising recent graduates and professionals in career related matters. Lisa teams with other HR colleagues and career specialists as needed. An avid reader, gardener, and “comfort food” cook, Lisa is married to Richard Jacobson, a foreign tax lawyer and partner at the Fowler White law firm. She is also the proud mother of Rick Jacobson, a senior at Vanderbilt University who is making his way towards his goal to be a medical doctor. Lisa, and her family reside in Tampa, Florida. Our Community Service - Paying it ForwardWorkplace Solutions believes in giving back to the community, especially concerning people in need of employment services. For this reason, we dedicate several hours each week to people and organizations that cannot afford to pay for career advising and employment services. Presently, Lisa offers free resume and interview workshops at Metropolitan Ministries. |
